In regards to exchange, many enterprise system administrators can relate to the need for this function. Though outlook rules would be the obvious guess as to how to perform an automatic delete, I’ve discovered though a simple google search the method of using AutoArchive to handle this function for you. This is a handy trick if you have a need for this.
Automatically Delete Old Items
1. Go to tools / options / other
2. Click the “AutoArchive” button
3. Select frequency to run AutoArchive
4. Enter the number of months/week/days after which you would like old items to be deleted.
5. Select “Permanently delete old items”.
6. Click OK or you can apply the autoarchive by choosing “apply these settings to folders now”
